Malvey to head new unit at BNY Mellon

BNY Mellon Asset Management has named Jack Malvey chief global market strategist and director of the newly formed BNY Mellon Center for Global Investment & Market Intelligence.

He will lead a team responsible for capturing and researching investment trends, market activity and economics.

Malvey reports to Curtis Arledge, vice chairman of BNY Mellon and chief executive officer of its asset management business.

Malvey will focus on developing a global investment and market knowledge platform that will help capture and communicate the investment opinion and analysis from across the investment firms that comprise BNY Mellon Asset Management.

"We are excited to welcome Jack Malvey to our team," said Arledge. "His extensive experience in financial markets and strong economics background will prove invaluable as we discuss the outlook on topics that are highly important to our investment management professionals and that are considered crucial by our clients.

"The BNY Mellon Center for Global Investment & Market Intelligence will harness the power of our investment platform and create a rich forum to evaluate market trends and the evolving investment landscape."

Jack Malvey added: "BNY Mellon has a unique opportunity to bring the entire company's wealth of experience together to help clients navigate these challenging markets. The establishment of this new group will differentiate us from our competitors and enable us to develop closer partnerships with our valued clients."

Malvey is best known for the time he spent at Lehman Brothers, where as managing director and chief global fixed-income strategist he chaired the multi-asset investment strategy group and served on the company's wealth management investment committee. For 18 years, he was also a ranked strategist in Institutional Investor's annual fixed-income research survey, which included 16 consecutive first-team positions.

Malvey is a member of the Fixed Income Analysts Society Hall of Fame, and formerly served on the investment advisory committee of the New York State Teachers Retirement System and the advisory board of Discern, an independent equity research provider. Most recently, he had been working with a number of hedge funds, insurers, analytic vendors and rating agencies, advising them on global capital markets. He served in the US Air Force, was awarded his bachelor's degree by Georgetown University and studied graduate economics at the New School for Social Research in New York.
