Innotribe’s finalists gear up for Sibos showdown

The 20 finalists for Innotribe’s Startup Challenge have been selected, and are preparing for the final showdown at Sibos in October.

More than 370 financial technology startups applied to the challenge, and 60 were selected to enter the programme. They presented their businesses to audiences of 800 industry experts and representatives from financial institutions, who chose the 20 finalists.

Of those selected, 12 are early-stage companies and eight are at the growth stage. The growth-stage finalists will each host an exhibition booth on the Innotribe stand at the conference, and will have an opportunity to show live demos throughout the week.

The 12 early-stage companies will pitch their ideas to Sibos delegates, who will choose the recipient of the $50,000 prize.

Fabian Vandenreydt, head of markets management for Innotribe and the SWIFT Institute at SWIFT said: “Since 2011, the Innotribe Startup Challenge has brought the SWIFT Community in direct contact with more than 650 financial technology startups from around the world.”

“This programme not only supports community engagement, but also enables SWIFT and its member institutions to stay abreast of current innovation activity in today’s fast changing landscape. Innotribe was one of the initial facilitators to help accelerate and spread the first wave of financial technology innovation across the industry, and we will continue to play an important role in this process.”
