ESG analysis acquisition for Sustainalytics

Sustainalytics is acquiring ESG Analytics, a provider of web-based solutions to assist asset managers in analysing and managing their environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities.

Using cloud-based software, Zurich-based ESG Analytics uses propriety methodology to evaluate metrics. It is known for its data visualisation, workflows and reliable user experience.

By collecting and analysing ESG data on a portfolio, the firm helps investment managers, pension funds, and players in the private equity space with analysis and reporting.

The acquisition intends to strengthen the portfolio analytics capabilities of Sustainalytics, while also improving company research.

CEO of Sustainalytics Michael Jantzi said: "Sustainalytics is committed to innovation through new products and leveraging technology to enhance the value we provide to clients across a spectrum of risk identification and mitigation solutions."

Rina Kupferschmid, CEO of ESG Analytics, said: "As the market leader in providing ESG research solutions to institutional investors, Sustainalytics is an ideal fit for us."

She added: "We are thrilled to be a part of an organisation that can leverage its global footprint and resources to extend the reach of our innovative risk analytics solutions."

Terms have not been disclosed, but the transaction is expected to be completed later this month, subject to customary closing conditions.
