Cygnus chooses CIBC Mellon for alternatives venture

CIBC Mellon has been chosen to provide asset servicing for Cygnus Investment Partners, as Cygnus launches new alternative investment offerings in collaboration with KKR.

The new solution will allow Canadian institutional and qualified individual investors access to KKR’s alternative investment vehicles, through new structures and strategies.

Global investment firm KKR manages investments spanning various asset classes, including private equity, energy, infrastructure, real estate, capital markets, credit strategies and hedge funds.

CIBC Mellon will provide custody and safekeeping of client assets for the new venture, and will be responsible for foreign exchange processing and settlement, and delivery of investment information.

Dan Geraci, managing partner and director of Cygnus Investment Partners, said: “The Cygnus-KKR relationship provides Cygnus clients with a compelling value proposition."

He added: "Cygnus's core strategy rests on our commitment to leveraging investment industry leaders, and as such we are pleased to select CIBC Mellon based on their proven strength, expertise and stability as a Canadian leader in custody and asset servicing."

Mary Ann Mackenzie, vice president of relationship management at CIBC Mellon, said: "CIBC Mellon continues to build business by delivering global asset servicing solutions in Canada with client-focused service excellence."
