HKEX launches second listing of MSCI futures contracts

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has launched a further eight futures contracts under its index licensing agreement with Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI).

The ten-year agreement is designed to help HKEX’s efforts to expand its derivatives product offering, as well as affirm MSCI’s commitment to long-term product development and innovation in the region.

The new USD-dominated MSCI index futures contracts track underlying equities in Mainland China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

Liquidity development of the contracts is supported through incentive programmes introduced by HKEX for liquidity providers, proprietary traders, and block trade participants.

The original ten listings were launched in early July, while the next eight are scheduled for 17 August, subject to regulatory approval and market conditions.
