MarketAxess hits new trading volume records

MarketAxess, the operator of an electronic trading platform for fixed-income securities, and the provider of market data and post-trade services for the global fixed-income markets, has reported its trading volume for March 2021 totalled $689.6 billion.

The total figure represents $292.6 billion in credit volume and $397 billion in rates volume.

March’s figures showed that a number of trading volume records were achieved throughout the month, including $12.7 billion for total credit average daily trading volume.

Total credit trading also reached a new high with volumes of $292.6 billion

Meanwhile, open trading total credit trading volume came in at $94.4 billion, while emerging markets' total trading volume stood at $64.2 billion.

The statistics also showed the municipal bonds' total trading volume was $2.1 billion.

Further categories to mark new milestones include US high-grade, which had a total trading volume of $145.7 billion, and U.S. high-yield average daily trading, which had a volume of $1.9 billion and a total trading volume of $43.9 billion.

MarketAxess also reported a total trading volume of $36.5 billion for Eurobonds.

At the start of 2021, MarketAxess reported its monthly trading volume for January totalled $575.3 billion, which consisted of $236.5 billion in credit volume and $338.8 billion in rates volume.
