Akemona has unveiled a tokenisation cloud, an infrastructure platform that allows financial institutions and businesses to take-up digital assets at scale.
The release comes at a key time in US financial regulation, with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) having recently unveiled Project Crypto which seeks to modernise custody regulation and incorporate decentralised finance (DeFi) into the regulated financial system.
The SEC project also enables regulatory clarity for decentralised exchanges (DEXs), to strike a balance between security and innovation.
SEC Chairman Atkins strongly endorsed the right to self-custody of digital assets naming it a core American value.
The firm says it has developed the tokenisation cloud to ready financial institutions for these new SEC changes and to allow them the ability to provide digital products that are fully compatible with the emerging regulatory framework.
Established as a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), the tokenisation cloud provides a fully regulatory-compliant digital asset lifestyle ecosystem that covers token creation, issuance, settlement, trading, redemption, and reporting.
Akemona provides Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications pre-built on the tokenisation cloud, permitting institutions to deploy ready-to-use solutions or configure new ones tailored to their workflows and asset classes.
The tokenisation cloud incorporates Web3 APIs, smart contracts, databases, compliance frameworks and orchestration services into a single protected environment for generating digital native applications.
The product delivers scalability, enterprise-grade security for institutional users.
Alex de Lorraine, CEO of Akemona, comments on the increase in demand for digital assets across capital markets: “Financial institutions have been waiting for a platform that combines regulatory compliance, security, and flexibility in one environment. With the tokenisation cloud, broker-dealers and asset managers can build blockchain-native apps to issue tokenised security with confidence, integrate with distribution channels and accelerate the adoption of blockchain in mainstream finance.”
