Standard Chartered has unveiled plans to provide custody services for select cryptoassets, stablecoins, and tokenised real-world assets to institutional and accredited investor corporate clients in Singapore, subject to the necessary regulatory requirements.
The initiative builds on the bank’s presence in the UAE, Luxembourg, and Hong Kong, extending its institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure to a wider range of clients.
The Singapore custody services will build on Standard Chartered’s existing financing and securities capabilities, combining traditional asset servicing, tokenisation, and digital asset custody.
Standard Chartered says the approach will allow it to support institutional clients across wider asset lifecycles.
Commenting on the initiative, Patrick Lee, CEO, Singapore and CEO, ASEAN and South Asia, Standard Chartered, says: “Singapore is an important centre for financial innovation, with a strong institutional ecosystem and growing demand for trusted digital asset solutions.
“Robust infrastructure will be critical to supporting the secure movement, safekeeping, and servicing of tokenised assets at an institutional scale.”
Ole Matthiessen, global head for transaction services and digital assets at Standard Chartered, adds: “As client demand continues to grow, we will continue investing in our digital assets capabilities across key financial centres, connecting clients to opportunities through a secure, integrated, and globally connected platform.”
