Crédit Agricole Assurances is making a €100 million investment and subscribing to a tokenised unit of the Amundi Funds Cash EUR money market fund (MMF) — managed by Amundi and custodied by CACEIS.
The transaction marks the first time Crédit Agricole Assurances has invested in a tokenised asset and forms part of the firm’s long-term goal as an institutional investor.
The tokenised instrument was designed and managed by Amundi, with infrastructure and technology provided by CACEIS, also used for digital portfolios.
Speaking on the transaction, Florence Barjou, chief investment officer of Crédit Agricole Assurances, says: “This initial investment in tokenised finance marks an important step forward in our approach to innovation and diversification.
“Our approach to tokenisation is to focus on the strength of the infrastructure, the quality of the underlying assets, and the ultimate efficiency for our clients.”
Alexandra Van Gyseghem, head of Amundi's French institutional clients division, comments: “By drawing on our expertise and the complementary know-how within Crédit Agricole, we are supporting the changing needs of major institutional investors and fully contributing to the transformations under way in the financial markets.”
Laurent Majchrzak, group head of digital assets at CACEIS, adds: “By supporting Crédit Agricole Assurances’ first tokenised investment, CACEIS is expanding its role in digital assets to serve large institutional investors.”
The investment aligns with Crédit Agricole’s ACT 2028 initiative, which prioritises the development of a multi-business line approach to tokenised finance.
