BitGo, a digital asset infrastructure company, has announced the integration of the Bitcoin Lightning Network from its qualified custody platform, building on BitGo’s existing Lightning Network offering.
The service intends to provide institutions with a simplified and secure way to leverage the speed of Lightning, in conjunction with its efficiency and privacy, for payments.
Clients will gain access to simple APIs for creating wallets, sending payments, generating invoices, and retrieving transaction histories.
The new service is integrated into BitGO’s qualified custody, with functionality delivered through the company’s partnership with Voltage.
Mike Belshe, CEO and co-founder of BitGo, says the integration is “combining the speed and lower transaction costs of Lightning with the trusted security of BitGo to make bitcoin practical for everyday payments”.
