U.S. Bank has created the Custody for Asset Managers unit within its Investment Services division, with the vertical to be led by Wally Barys.

U.S. Bank’s custody unit will bring together specialised expertise, global market access, and a more streamlined client experience for asset management firms seeking custody solutions, building on its established fund custody business.

Barys has been with U.S. Bank for almost a decade and will transition into his new position from his current role as head of executive engagement and strategic partnerships within the bank’s Wealth, Corporate, Commercial, and Institutional Banking Operations entity.

He will be responsible for the strategy and growth of the new vertical, overseeing a team focused on client experience and end-to-end service delivery, driving the expansion of the bank’s custody capabilities.

Commenting on the custody unit, Alan Flanagan, head of Global Investment Services at U.S. Bank, says: “Establishing primary asset and cash relationships creates opportunities to deepen client partnerships and connect clients with a broader range of U.S. Bank solutions.

“Creating a custody group dedicated to the products issued by asset managers strengthens our ability to compete in an important growth market.”
