Euroclear has appointed Usman Ahmad as head of digital assets, a newly created role.
Ahmad will lead Euroclear’s digital assets strategy, helping to strengthen the group’s position as the market further develops.
Ahmad most recently served as co-founding CEO of Zodia Markets, where he built the institutional digital asset brokerage.
Prior to this, he played a key role in growing Open, Secure, and Licensed (OSL), a digital asset provider.
Earlier in his career, Usman spent more than 17 years in senior capital markets technology leadership roles at HSBC and Merrill Lynch, working across major asset classes, functions, and geographies.
Sebastien Danloy, chief business officer, Euroclear, notes: "We are so pleased to welcome Usman to Euroclear. His experience across both traditional financial markets and digital assets will be an important asset as we continue to develop our digital capabilities and support our clients in a rapidly evolving market.”
Speaking on his role, Ahmad adds: "I am excited to join Euroclear at such an important time contributing to the next phase of the company’s digital asset journey. Euroclear plays a central role in financial markets, and I look forward to working with colleagues, clients and market participants to develop solutions that deliver long-term value.”
