CMU OmniClear officially launches asset servicing for equities with the onboarding of Bank of China Hong Kong (BOCHK) to the CMU-SIX linkage service.

The firms say BOCHK is the first Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) Member onboarded, and explains CMU Members can invest in, settle, and hold Swiss and Spanish securities through CMU’s nominee account with SIX.

The direct linkage between the CMU, operated by CMU OmniClear, and SIX, Switzerland’s national central securities depository (CSD), took place in July 2026.

Stanley Chan, group CEO of CMU OmniClear Holdings and CEO of CMU OmniClear, says: “As CMU evolves into a one-stop multi-asset class post-trade securities platform, we are pleased to have successfully rolled out equities custody and asset servicing for CMU Members to invest in and hold equities in European markets.

“This represents a significant step towards facilitating cross-border investments and strengthening financial cooperation between Hong Kong and European markets.”

Wang Huabin, deputy chief executive of BOCHK, comments: “BOCHK is pleased to become the first bank in Hong Kong to participate in CMU’s direct linkage with SIX and its one-stop asset servicing platform.

“By connecting directly to the European market infrastructure through CMU, we are able to provide our global institutional clients with enhanced custody and multi-asset portfolio services defined by greater effectiveness and efficiency.”

Fransisco Bejar, head of custody at SIX, adds: “By connecting trusted infrastructures across Asia and Europe, we are making it simpler and more efficient for investors to access Swiss and Spanish securities.

“By combining CMU OmniClear’s gateway to international markets with SIX’s custody and asset servicing capabilities, we are enabling institutions to access European securities through an efficient and scalable post-trade framework.”
