UniCredit has announced the transfer of a dedicated business unit and the related hiring of 54 specialists from Societe Generale Securities Services (SGSS) in Italy to UniCredit.
Expected to become effective from January 2027, the specialists joining UniCredit will be responsible for activities including ‘static’ data management, corporate actions, and ancillary securities settlement tasks.
The firm explains the transfer supports the implementation of its plan to internalise key back office activities for securities services, establishing coordinated suppliers and processes across Italy and Germany, and creating a more resilient and scalable operating model.
Commenting on the initiative, Gianfranco Bisagni, group chief operating officer at UniCredit, says: “This move is an important milestone as we look to transform our securities services operations, bringing key expertise and capabilities closer to our clients and our organisation.
“We are committed to continue building the in-house capabilities and skills to support a simpler, more resilient and more efficient operation model across our markets.”
