Demetrios Skalkotos joins Blockdaemon from Ledger Vault

Demetrios Skalkotos has joined Blockdaemon, a blockchain infrastructure provider serving institutions, enterprises and developers, as senior vice president, global head of sales.

Based in New York, Skalkotos will be focused on expanding Blockdaemon’s customer relationship management, growing the customer base and scaling the sales team.

Skalkotos has 15 years of experience in financial services and joins from blockchain infrastructure provider Ledger Vault.

At Ledger Vault, he was global head of the enterprise digital asset custody platform of Ledger.

Prior to that, he worked at the Intercontinental Exchange as vice president, global head of desktop solutions and content acquisition.

Blockdaemon explains that the move coincides with the growing customer demand and adoption of staking protocols that the firm supports.

The adoptions include Algorand, Stellar, Celo and the launch of anticipated network protocols in 2020 including Polkadot, the second generation launch of Ethereum 2.0 and the coming launch of Diem, formerly Libra.

Exchanges, custodians and financial institutions are looking for bridges to all major protocols which Blockdaemon explains is possible with horizontally scaling blockchains across a common stack.

The blockchain infrastructure provider reveals it is currently collaborating with protocols to support these integrations and the evolution of the stack.
