Percent, a platform powering modern private credit markets through access, liquidity, and data, has appointed Bina Shetty as chief commercial officer and Cecil Smart as chief credit officer.

Shetty and Smart take direct ownership of the two functions, which the firm says institutional investors weigh most heavily when evaluating a manager: commercial relationships and credit.

Shetty, previously head of Originations at Percent, will now oversee originations, borrower relationships, and investor relations at the firm.

She brings more than 25 years of investment banking experience, with prior roles at Merrill Lynch, CIBC World Markets, and Canaccord Genuity.

As chief credit officer, Smart will oversee Percent's credit strategy, underwriting standards, portfolio surveillance, and workout management.

He brings more than 20 years of structured finance experience, most recently at Sixth Street, after previously leading the Commercial ABS group at Kroll Bond Rating Agency.

Commenting on the appointments, Prath Reddy, CFA, co-founder and CEO of Percent, says: “Percent has spent years building the infrastructure for a more transparent and efficient private credit market. Now we are scaling the organisation and specifically the investment capabilities built on top of that foundation.

“Bina and Cecil bring clear senior accountability across commercial growth and credit as we expand into the ways institutional investors increasingly access private credit and continue building on our lower middle market lender finance focus on the asset management side.”
