Northern Trust appoints Johnston

Northern Trust Asset Management has appointed Amy Johnston as head of the Global Institutional Client Group.
Johnston will lead the strategic direction and commercial success of Northern Trust Asset Management’s institutional business globally, across public and private markets.
With more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, she brings expertise in sales and distribution strategy across institutional and intermediary clients.
Based in Chicago, Johnston will report to Michael Hunstad, president of Northern Trust Asset Management.
Speaking on her appointment, Hunstad says: “Amy brings deep institutional market expertise, a client-centered approach to growth and a strong record of building high-performing teams.
“Her broad global perspective, distribution leadership experience and ability to connect client needs with innovative investment solutions makes her exceptionally well positioned to help our clients achieve their goals and to advance our continued growth.”
Previously, Johntston spent 14 years with State Street Investment Management in the US and Australia, most recently as managing director and head of distribution strategy for the Americas Institutional Client Group, and has also held distribution roles at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Perennial Investment Partners, and Merrill Lynch.
