Stifel Financial has appointed Mika Melamies as managing director in the Global Technology group, to strengthen its presence in the Nordics.
Melamies joins from Nomura, where he spent three years as co-head of Nordic Investment Banking, leading Nordic operations and working with Nordic climate tech, industrial technology, software, and business services companies.
Prior to joining Nomura, he spent 15 years at Carnegie Investment Bank, building a track record in IPOs, public takeovers, and M&A deals, advising corporates, entrepreneurs, and Nordic financial sponsors.
During his career, he has advised on 15 IPOs, over 100 M&A, and equity capital markets (ECM) deals in the Nordic region and the Baltic states.
Commenting on his appointment, Melamies says: “The Nordic region is a dynamic and innovative market, at the forefront of global advancements in AI, robotics, digital infrastructure, and enterprise software.
“In recent years, it has evolved from a regional market to one that is increasingly attracting transatlantic deal activity, including corporates, and private equity investors. Stifel’s strengths across key European markets, coupled with its strong US capabilities, positions the bank to leverage these growing opportunities.”
Greg Revenu, head of advisory and equities at European Technology and Healthcare Groups, adds: “Mika’s experience across climate tech, industrial technology, tech-enabled services, software, and digital infrastructure, gives him a highly differentiated multi-product perspective across the Nordic market that complements Stifel’s deep sector expertise.
“His arrival represents another important step in strengthening our European Technology franchise in the Nordics, while further enhancing our connectivity with financial sponsors, public companies, and investors across the region.”
