State Street continues transformation project with AWS and Microsoft

State Street has selected Amazon Web Services and Microsoft to provide cloud and infrastructure solutions as part of its technology transformation strategies.

Aiming to consolidate and centralise its data facilities, the bank is updating its technology infrastructure. The use of both private and public cloud capabilities will allow for workloads to be hosted across private and public environments, something that State Street expects to improve migration speed and integration flexibility.

AWS will gain responsibility for State Street’s two core North American data centres in a gradual transition that allows the bank to monitor what IT infrastructure will need to be implemented.

Continuing its engagement with Microsoft’s Azure cloud, currently used for business applications, State Street will use the platform to alter the infrastructure and accelerate the development of technology, standardising platforms across the business.

Commenting on the partnerships, Brian Franz, chief information officer of State Street, says: “Our objective is to continually enhance our client experience and technology solutions while driving efficiency and productivity across our organisation.

“By standardising and simplifying our technology operating model, we will be able to more quickly deploy client environments and launch new products and services, while continuing to enhance the resiliency of our technology environment and our business operations.”
