Blockchain.com picks Standard Custody & Trust Company

Blockchain.com Asset Management (BCAM) has selected Standard Custody & Trust Company (Standard) as its custodian.

The institutional platform, with investments managed by Altis Partners, brings crypto products to professional and institutional investors.

Standard’s blockchain technology provides end-to-end encryption and distributed trust protocols for securing secret keys.

Commenting on the mandate, Charles McGarraugh, chief investment officer at Altis Partners, says: “The advent of distributed ledger technologies and crypto assets has the potential to change the structure of financial services and global capital markets while presenting new opportunities for investors. We are pleased to offer our risk management and operational expertise in this exciting sector to an even broader range of clients."

BCAM has also selected Apex to provide its fund services. Apex will provide BCAM with compliance, know your customer/anti-money laundering and transfer agency services delivered by Apex in Jersey.

Other fund administration will be offered by Apex’s center of excellence for digital assets in Malta.

Founded in 2011, Blockchain.com allows 37 million verified users to buy, trade and store digital tokens such as Bitcoin.

David Barry, global head of open-ended funds at Apex Group, comments: “We are excited to be supporting the launch of BCAM as Blockchain.com continues to lead the digital assets revolution by offering institutional investors sophisticated investment strategies for crypto assets, underpinned by robust controls and procedures. This appointment is further evidence of Apex’s forward looking and adaptable full-service model, which enables us to support all asset types.”
