State Street has been selected as Wellington Management’s transfer agent on Hong Kong Exchanges and Cleaning Limited’s (HKEX) integrated fund platform (IFP).
According to the firm, it has executed Wellington’s first fund subscription and redemption orders routed through the IFP.
The platform is designed to strengthen Hong Kong’s fund distribution infrastructure by connecting asset managers and distributors through a standardised digital channel.
Speaking on the appointment, Tim Helyar, head of Asia Pacific at State Street, says: “This is an important milestone not only for Wellington Management and State Street, but also for the continued evolution of Hong Kong’s fund distribution ecosystem.”
Helyar notes that “global asset managers are looking for more efficient ways to connect with distributors and investors across the region”, and that the IFP has the potential to simplify that process.
Cedric R. Pouillart, managing director, head of office for Hong Kong, director of trading, APAC, at Wellington Management, adds: “This successful implementation demonstrated the benefits of industry participants working together to enhance access and efficiency across Hong Kong’s fund ecosystem.”
