Broadridge and Korea Securities Depository (KSD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that outlines the parties’ mutual intention to enhance and modernise Korea’s proxy voting infrastructure.
Under the MoU, the firms explain they aim to create a market operating model that will digitise and automate end-to-end proxy voting for international investors who hold Korean equities.
The collaboration is also intended to support KDS’s broader objective of strengthening the efficiency, transparency, and global competitiveness of the Korean capital market, the firm says.
Addressing the MoU, Yunsu Rhee, chairman and CEO of Korea Securities Depository, says: “We believe this MoU will contribute to enhancing the global accessibility of Korea’s capital market, increasing its appeal to international investors, and strengthening their confidence in the Korean market.”
Tim Gokey, CEO at Broadridge, adds: “By bringing together Broadridge’s global proxy expertise, and KSD’s market infrastructure leadership, we see an opportunity to support more efficient, transparent, and accessible shareholder participation in Korea’s market.”
