Cantor Fitzgerald Asset Management welcomes Johnston

Cantor Fitzgerald Asset Management (CFAM) appoints Eric Johnston as head of equities at O’Connor and chief market strategist at CFAM.
Earlier this year, CFAM closed its acquisition of UBS O’Connor to strengthen its private markets solutions for clients.
As head of equities at O’Connor, Johnston will run its equity long/short strategy, lead the build-out of its equity capital markets franchise, and join O’Connor’s global alpha fund team as a leading member of its Capital Allocation Committee.
As chief market strategist of CFAM, Johnston will lead its market outlook and macro investment views for investors and clients. He will report to Bill Ferri, global head of Cantor Fitzgerald Asset Management.
Johnston joins CFAM from Cantor where he served as chief equity and macro strategist. Prior to Cantor, he was Americas head of equity trading at Deutsche Bank.
Speaking on Johnston’s appointment, Ferri says: “Eric brings an exceptional combination of market insight, experience building hedge fund and equity businesses, and disciplined capital and risk management expertise.
“He will be an important leader as we continue to build O’Connor’s equities platform and enhance the investment capabilities we offer clients across CFAM.”
