AustralianSuper, a superannuation fund, has gone live with a new whole-of-fund investment book of record on FINBOURNE Technology’s LUSID platform, its modern investment data management.
The fund explains the new platform brings investment positions, transactions, exposures, and portfolio structures into one record, giving the investment team more consistent and timely information, as well as providing the fund with a total portfolio view.
Additionally, the fund says the platform supports its total portfolio investment approach; reducing reliance on fragmented data sources, improving transparency, consistency, and confidence across decision making, oversight, risk management, performance analysis, and day-to-day operations.
LUSID’s system is configured specifically for the fund and built to adapt as its investment needs change, notes the firms.
Andrew Byron, senior director, operating model at AustralianSuper, says: “This is a really groundbreaking move forward for the fund and will give the global investment team a distinct market advantage.”
Byron continues: “The new model will make it easier for AustralianSuper to operate more efficiently for members as the fund grows globally. It also gives us a more flexible foundation for the future as our portfolio and global investment operations grow.
“We can add new capabilities without creating separate sources of information or adding unnecessary complexity. Ultimately, that helps us stay focused on delivering the best possible long-term financial outcomes for members.”
Thomas McHugh, co-founder and CEO of FINBOURNE, adds: “This is exactly the kind of challenge FINBOURNE was built for: providing investment teams with clarity and visibility across complex portfolios with multi-level hierarchy, spanning public and private markets across multiple geographies, where the data management capabilities have to be right from the start.”
