Spotex — an institutional trading venue for FX, precious metals, and digital assets — has integrated with BitGo.

BitGo will also facilitate post-trade settlement between liquidity providers and the client.

The partnership seeks to offer eligible clients a more secure and capital-efficient way of accessing digital asset liquidity through the Spotex institutional electronic communication network (ECN).

The integration will connect BitGo’s Go Network settlement and clearing offering with Spotex’s institutional infrastructure, allowing clients to allocate assets held in BitGo custody for trading on Spotex.

Underlying assets will remain with BitGo for the duration of the trade, intended to reduce pre-funding of trading venues, improve capital efficiency, and minimise counterparty risk.

Spotex functions solely as the execution venue and does not act as principal to transactions executed through its ECN.

According to the firms, BitGo is the first digital asset custodian to go live with Spotex.

Regarding the collaboration, Joe Tuccio, head of digital assets at Spotex, comments: “Having BitGo, one of the world’s largest specialist institutional custodians, as our first live digital asset custodian brings huge credibility to Spotex as we build out our digital asset offering and strengthen asset protection for our clients.”

Adam Sporn, head of prime brokerage and US institutional sales at BitGo, adds: “We believe that institutions want greater choice in execution without adding unnecessary complexity across custody, credit, and settlement.

“Through this integration, eligible clients can access Spotex while keeping assets within regulated custody and maintaining the operational controls required for institutional trading.”
