IQ-EQ, a provider of solutions for alternative assets and corporate services, has appointed Anil Ponnampalam as managing director, fund platform and solutions, APAC and Middle East, following the rebrand of Gordian Capital to IQ-EQ.
Ponnampalam succeeds Mark Voumard, who will transition into the role of senior adviser, fund platform and solutions, APAC and Middle East, after stepping down from his position as part of IQ-EQ’s planned leadership change.
His remit spans private and public markets for the company’s fund platform and solutions business, leading its strategy, commercial growth, and operational performance, and he will report to IQ-EQ’s regional CEO for APAC, Sridhar Nagarajan.
Ponnampalam will also serve on the fund management board of IQ-EQ’s APAC and Middle East entities.
IQ-EQ says Ponnampalam has been key to the firm’s success over the past decade, most recently serving as director, head of business and investments, private markets, fund platform and solutions, APAC and Middle East.
He brings over 20 years' investment and management experience to the position, spanning private, public, and capital markets.
Before joining Gordian Capital, Ponnampalam managed assets for a variety of institutional clients.
Commenting on the appointment, John Legrand, deputy group CEO at IQ-EQ, says: “Anil’s appointment reflects both the strength of our Fund Platform and Solutions business and the depth of talent we have within the team.
“His specialist market knowledge, long-standing client relationships, and collaborative leadership style make him exceptionally well placed to lead the next phase of growth for this important business across APAC and the Middle East.”
Ponnampalam adds: “I am grateful for the opportunity to take on the role at such an exciting inflection point in our journey and delighted to be part of the team tasked to drive and contribute to IQ-EQ’s next phase of growth.
“I look forward to working alongside colleagues across the region and globally to provide solutions for our clients and service their needs as we continue to build on our strong market position.”
