eMudhra, through its appointment by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) as a Validation Agent of Legal Entity Identifier India (LEIL) in the Global LEI system, will incorporate LEI application and renewal into its established identity verification and onboarding processes.
The incorporation reduces the need for organisations to complete separate checks across different services, explains the firm, and LEIL will ensure issuance and maintenance of LEI records in accordance with Global LEI System requirements.
eMudhra’s appointment demonstrates how globally standardised organisational identity can be embedded within existing digital trust infrastructure, aiding organisations to identify themselves consistently across financial markets, payment systems, and cross-border digital processes, the firm says.
According to the GLEIF, India became the jurisdiction with the largest number of LEIs in January 2026, also recording the highest growth rate during the second quarter; integrating LEI services into established onboarding channels supports the demand while making organisational identity more accessible across the country’s financial ecosystem.
Alexandre Kech, CEO of GLIEF, says: “Sustained growth in the adoption and application of the LEI in India over recent years shows how trusted, verifiable organisational identity supports transparency and interoperability across the global digital economy.
“Welcoming eMudhra as a Validation Agent will help meet increasing demand for the LEI in India and internationally, supporting regulatory compliance and promoting market-led innovation.”
Nand Kishore, director of LEIL, adds: “By combining eMudhra’s operational network and digital capabilities with our decadelong expertise in issuing and managing LEIs, we are enabling organisations to fulfill their identity verification requirements seamlessly. This integration strengthens our validation framework and reinforces our commitment to data quality, transparency, and strict adherence to regulatory standards.”
Co-founder of eMudhra, Kaushik Srinivasan, remarks that becoming a Validation Agent of LEIL in the Global LEI system enables clients faster access while also supporting their compliance and cross-border growth.
